Blue Raiders still perfect

Cleveland all season has been the top dog in District 5-AAA boys’ tennis, and its nine-match winning streak continued with a 7-0 blanking of Soddy-Daisy at home Thursday afternoon at Cleveland Country Club.

Vereen Patel, Jack Hughes and Allen Swetman all were decisive with 8-2 singles victories while Adam Klibisz and Jared Holland won via forfeit.

Patel/Hughes and Swetman/Klibisz won their doubles matches 8-1 and the third doubles was won via forfeit for the Blue Raiders.

With an undefeated mark, the regular season district champions are excited about their chances for obtaining hardware as the postseason approaches.

The Lady Raiders fell 6-0 to the Lady Trojans.

HURRICANES 5

MUSTANGS 4

Walker Valley fell in a close match with East Hamilton.

Singles winners were Nolan Cawood (8-1), Thomas Arendale (8-6) and Grant Holden, who won by forfeit. Cawood/Jordan Lumpkin won their doubles match 8-4.

The Lady Mustangs fell 8-1 to the Lady Hurricanes with Izze Wilson/Becca Watson winning their doubles match 9-7.
