Billy Martin, 86, a resident of Old Fort, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2018, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Ola Wilson Martin and George Martin His grandson, Heith Martin; his sister, Joanne Waldroup; and his brothers: Edward, Marvin, Donald and Herbie Martin, also preceded him in death.
He was retired from the Conasauga Lumber Company with over 45 years of service. He loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a people person and he enjoyed making folks smile!
He was a member of the Conasauga River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Martin of Old Fort; his daughter, Pat Maxwell and her husband, Boone, of Old Fort; his son, Bobby Martin and his wife, Cheryl, of Old Fort; his grandchildren, Chad Maxwell and his wife, Jennifer, Tiffany Martin and her companion, Cody Eaves, and Cody Martin; his great-grandchildren, Allie and Matthew Maxwell, and Dakota Cooper and Colter Eaves; his brother, Ronald Martin and his wife, Sue, from Tellico Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted tonight, Aug. 10, 2018, at 7 . at the Conasauga River Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chad Maxwell and the Rev. Jackie Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Conasauga Cemetery with Bobby Martin, Cody Martin, Cody Eaves, Chad Maxwell, Don White and Boone Maxwell serving as active casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Matthew Maxwell, Dakota Cooper, Colter Eaves, Allie Maxwell, Tiffany Martin, Jennifer Martin and Cheryl Martin.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. today at the Conasauga River Baptist Church.
