Betty Jean Hobby, 76, of Cleveland, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Friday night, Jan. 18, 2019, while at Hospice of Chattanooga.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Feb. 28, 1942, she spent her early childhood years in Albany, Ga., where she met and married Larry Hobby on Feb. 25, 1961. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company before relocating with her husband to Cleveland in 1972.

She leaves behind her husband, Larry, of 57 years; her daughter, Connie Hobby Davis and her husband, Paul Davis; and numerous friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Tommie Kirksey; father, Vondel W. Kirksey; and mother, Venice Rackley Kirksey.

She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for over 35 years where she was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class serving as secretary and was active in the food ministry outreach. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Companion Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service will follow, officiated by Pastor Paul Davis, Pastor Steve Smart, and Pastor Wayne Finnell.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m., in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Betty’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Hospice of Chattanooga or Westwood Baptist Church.

You are encouraged to share a memory of Betty and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com.
