Benton was selected as the first-place winner in the Officers Category, ahead of the Dover Police Department (second place), and Chapel Hill (third place).

The Benton Police Department also received the Impaired Driving Awareness Award.

The Highway Safety Office announced there were 55 Law Enforcement Challenge applications submitted this year, 16 from West Tennessee, 12 from Middle Tennessee,  10 from East Tennessee, nine from the Cumberland Region, and one submission from each of the Tennessee Highway Patrol districts.

The only other Southeast Tennessee law enforcement agency recognized was the Chattanooga Police Department, which received the SAFE Campaign Vehicle Award.

Other East Tennessee agencies recognized were the Maryville Police Department, Blount County Sheriff's Office, Chapel Hill Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Department, Knoxville Highway Patrol Division, and the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) Police Department.
