Beatrice Hughes, 78, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at an Athens health care facility.
She was a member of Prospect Church of God.
She enjoyed working with her flowers, loved gardening and liked to shop. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dames Shorty Hughes; parents, Herman Lee Harden and Frances Powell Harden; and sister, Margaret Parnell.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Looney and husband, Charles; son, Dale Hughes; grandchildren: Laura Bowers, Ashley Wise-Mitchell and Amber Pickle; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Biddle.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Bowers and Pastor Sammy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
