Preliminary construction activity was not that prevalent in September at the Cleveland City Building Office, but there were some major projects being planned.
In September, there were only 12 building permits acquired. The job cost estimate was $14,654,179, with $33,115 being paid in fees.
One project made up a huge majority of that total. Bayer Healthcare, CRB Partners, is planning the construction of a new administration building on Michigan Avenue Road, at an estimated cost of $13.2 million.
The permit fee for the Bayer project was $27,200.
In other above-average construction projects, Cleveland's public utility (Cleveland Utilities), obtained a permit for $366,750 for an addition to the utility's maintenance building at 2450 Guthrie Drive. The permit fee was $1,301.
In another project, the Mueller Company is planning the completion of a site grade slab for a future building, at an anticipated cost of $300,000.
The American Engineered Solutions (Mueller) construction project will be on Industrial Drive, the permit fee being $1,100.
Joe Pesterfield Construction Company is planning a 100-by-100 footing storage foundation for CSC North on North Lee Highway. The $200,000 project had a permit fee of $800.
Commercial building permits for the month totaled $13,700,000.
There were a few building permits for additions or alternations. They included:
• Southern Speciality Contractors will be replacing a roof and repairing decking at 320 14th Street N.W., a $14,810 project.
• Southern Speciality is also doing a $12,219 project at 3204 Huntingdon Trace N.E.
• Stanbery Construction has been contracted for $20,000 in foundation work at 3600 Westview Drive.
• The final permit in this category is $30,000 project by Matthew Higgins, a homeowner at 263 17th Street N.W. Higgins is planning a garage and bathroom addition.
In residential buildings permits:
• Ross Construction was issued a $280,000 permit for a single-family home at 2831 Ridge Park Drive N.E. This is on lot 10 in the Spring Creek Subdivision.
Duggan Development obtained three permits for three-unit townhomes on Stonebriar Drive N.E. Estimated job cost of each of the permits was $76,800.
The estimated total of the residential permits was only $510,400, with permit fees of $2,264.
Land disturbance fees were $1,422. They included the huge Bayer construction project, Duggan Development projects on Stonebriar Drive, clearing on Cherokee Gateway Boulevard by Westco Land Services, and Cleveland Utilities' addition on Guthrie Drive by Wilder Contracting.
