ATHENS — Athens Area Council for the Arts announces camps for students K-12 this summer.

The 21st annual Kids Arts Camp is a one-week camp for students grades K-6 in June at Westside Elementary School. Theatre Camp 2017, “If It Rains,” is a two-week intensive theatre experience for students aged 11-17, from July 10-21, at The Arts Center, 320 North White St. in Athens.

Kids Arts Camp 2017 includes daily classes in art, music, drama and dance. The camp day is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, ending with a performance on Friday at 1 p.m. at Westside Elementary School of “Over the Rainbow.” Students may attend either camp, week one, June 5-9, or week two, June 12-16, at Westside Elementary School in Athens. Tuition is $65 per camper and some scholarships are available.

Scholarship applications are available upon request at The Arts Center and must be submitted by May 26. All supplies are furnished, and campers are asked to bring their own lunch. Registration forms are available at The Arts Center and will be distributed at local schools. Note that kindergarten aged students must have completed that grade during the 2016-17 school year.

Registration deadline for both weeks of Kids Arts Camp 2017 is Friday, June 2. Scholarships are available from the Marian Biddle Trew Scholarship Fund, registration and scholarship application deadline is May 22.

Theatre Camp 2017 includes daily classes in acting, music, movement, dance, stage combat, and improvisation. Camp day is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, ending with a performance of “If It Rains,” an original musical by Kelly and Bob Borwick, music by Pam Thigpen, on Friday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sue E. Trotter Theater at The Arts Center.

Registration forms are available at The Arts Center and the deadline to register is July 7.
