AGC members discuss water facts

The Aldersgate Garden Club held its March meeting at the home of Lelia Johnson, hostess for the meeting. Ten members were in attendance. Kay Cox, president, called the meeting to order.

Sheryl Gash, chaplain, gave the devotion titled, “How Wonderful,” followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Johnson presented an informative program on water facts. Some of the information caused a lot of interest and interaction among the members. (The source of the facts was Project Oceanography.)

Cox opened the business session after refreshments. The secretary’s report was read by Billie Blair, assistant secretary, and the financial report was given by Jackie Westfield, assistant treasurer.

Cox thanked the members for their contribution toward the breakfast goodies at the Day of Gardening, on Feb. 25 in East Ridge. Johnson, Charlotte Scott and Cox attended.

The District III Spring Membership Meeting was held on March 9 at the Mountain City Club in Chattanooga. Members in attendance were Cox, Scott, Charlotte Timberlake, Cynthia Humes, Regenia Piersaul, Edwina Robinson, Billie Blair, Jackie Westfield and Johnson,

District III director. Cox also thanked Sheryl Gash and Piersaul for the club’s table design.

The TFGC 90th Annual Convention will be held at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg on April 19-20. The theme for the convention is, “It’s Springtime In the Smokies.” Cox encouraged members to attend.

After the business session, Johnson installed new officers for the two-year 2017-2019 term. Edwina Robinson, incoming president; Charlotte Scott, vice president; Jackie Westfield, secretary; Lelia Johnson, treasurer; and Cynthia Humes, parliamentarian. Outgoing President Kay Cox asked Charlotte Timberlake to give thanks to the Hostess.

Others in attendance were Joan Steward.
