BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Lee University cross country teams not only walked away from the  2018 GSC cross country championships with both team titles, the Flames also had six runners named first-team All-GSC honors, and five more earned second team All-GSC.

First team All-GSC status is earned by placing in the top 10 of the GSC Championship. Leading the way for the Lady Flames was Chloe Flora who also was the individual champion and GSC Women’s XC Runner of the Year. Joining Flora as first team All-GSC were Amy Carpenter and Charlee Boxall. Carpenter placed fourth and Boxall was 10th on Saturday.

Christian Noble received double honors as the GSC men’s cross country Runner of the Year and as first-team All-GSC after winning the men’s individual championship. Caleb Eagleson was eighth and Jared Herzog finished ninth to earn First Team All-GSC mentions.

Earning second team All-GSC honors were Becca Umbarger (12th), Logan Hernandez (19th), Casey Guthery (13th), Dawson Reed (18th) and Ben Tabor (20th). Second team All-GSC recognition is reserved for those that finished 11 through 20th.

Head coach Caleb Morgan was named the GS Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year and the GSC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Both squads will head to Lakeland, Fla., for the NCAA Division II South Region Championships Nov. 17. The championships will be held at Holloway Park.
