Tennova Healthcare – Cleveland goes red for women to bring awareness about the startling fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women.
According to the American Heart Association, the Go Red for Women movement works to make sure women know they are at risk so they can to protect their health.
“Here at Tennova, we are constantly working to raise awareness of heart disease and the risk factors,” states JT Barnhart CEO Tennova Healthcare – Cleveland. “We have partnered with the American Heart Association through CPR training for businesses, Scott Hicks Heart Walk and most recently the Go Red for Women Breakfast. Through our cardiac services, our cardiology group and this partnership with the American Heart Association we have worked to bring resources directly to our community on how to prevent heart disease but most importantly how to save lives.”
Marisa Burns, ANP-BC, CVNP-BC with Tennova Cardiology – Cleveland states, “Today we wear red to raise awareness for women and heart disease. With a heart attack we think of the typical symptoms such as chest pain, jaw pain and/or left arm pain. However, women tend to have more of the vague symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, sweating and unusual fatigue. The most important thing to remember is that if you experience signs and symptoms of a heart attack you should call 911! Do not drive – the paramedics can start treatment immediately in route to the hospital. “
