During the first game of the season, Tellico’s Bears came into Benton and handed the Wildcats the first of what would become a six-game losing streak.
But, Tuesday night, Polk held Tellico to three quarters of single-digit-scoring, leading 12-2 through the first quarter and 28-10 at the half.
The Bears fought back in the second half, matching Polk point for point, but the visitors were never able to gain an advantage down the stretch.
Evan Ball led scoring with 14 points. Derrick Weber added 10; Chandler Hutcheson netted seven; Gage Locke put five points on the board; Bryce Coffey had a pair; Will Richmond hit a 3-pointer, and Devin Weber tallied six in the victory.
The win moves Polk to 1-6 on the season.
A busy week for the Wildcats continues Thursday as the squads travel to Silverdale Academy before returning home Friday for a showdown against East Hamilton.
