John Alpers joins TWC as an Instructor of Business, Dr. Anca Traian as an Assistant Professor of Business, Dr. Chris Hill as an Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre, Alice Henley as an Assistant Professor of Education, Kyle Osborn as an Assistant Professor of History, Augustin Bocco as an Assistant Professor of French and Coordinator of International Programs, and Victoria Battershell and Gary Crotty as Assistant Professors of Nursing.
All eight professors bring years of teaching experience to Tennessee Wesleyan.
“I enjoy taking real life situations and using them to express the concepts being taught,” said Alpers, who received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint John’s University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. “While the books are great, real life experiences are of paramount importance to becoming a success in whatever field is chosen.”
From Romania to Ohio, TWC’s new faculty members have chosen the college based on its reputation and student to faculty ratio.
“I am truly excited to join the Tennessee Wesleyan College family,” said Traian, who is originally from Romania and just completed her PhD in Economics at Middle Tennessee State University. “The small class sizes will allow me to interact with students, help them learn and reach their goals.”
Alpers sees the value in a liberal arts education like Tennessee Wesleyan’s.
“I am happy to be joining the TWC community,” Alpers said. “The size of the college is very close to what I was lucky enough to experience at Saint John’s. I feel as though this leads to more interaction between the faculty and the students. The liberal arts college experience produces well-rounded individuals who are more capable of handling the ever-changing environment we see today.”
Tennessee Wesleyan College’s 2013 fall semester starts Aug. 19.
