On what was a cold and windy day at Butler Field, the Lee softball team swept a pair of games from rival Tennessee Wesleyan College Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Flames took game one 3-0 as Angie Hughes (4-0) outdueled Brittany Kilduff (1-3).

Lee tallied single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings, giving Hughes all the support she needed. The freshman gave up just two hits and struck out 15 of the 23 batters she faced.

Dezirae Parsons hit her third home run of the season in the fifth inning to jump-start the Lee offense. The senior third baseman roped a lined shot over the centerfield wall. Meghan Macias added a RBI double and scored a run. Dominique Hannah smoked a double down the right-field line to lead off the game. Amanda Lynn and Ana Coscorrosa each registered singles to complete the six-hit offensive attack.

Kilduff went the distance for TWC. In her six innings of work she gave up three runs on six hits and struck out three. The only Lady Bulldog offensive came from Brandi Lasley and Kali Henderson. Lasley was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Henderson finished 1-for-3 with a single.

Both teams saw the bats come alive in game two. After combining for just eight hits and three runs in the opener the two clubs belted out 28 hits and 19 runs in game two. The Lady Flames jumped out early but had to hold on late for a 11-8 victory.

After the Lady Bulldogs scored an unearned run in the first inning, Lee answered right back with nine runs in the bottom of the inning. Lee sent 12 batters to the plate with Hannah delivering the biggest blow. The sophomore led off the game with a double and came up for the second time in the inning with the bases loaded and belted a grand slam to left centerfield. Hannah finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Dezirae Parsons added three hits in game two and finished the day with four hits and three RBIs. Meghan Macias continued to swing a hot bat as well, adding two more hits in the night cap.

TWC bounced back from the 9-1 deficit to make things interesting late in the ballgame. The Lady Bulldogs scored three times in the fifth and three times in the sixth to pull within two runs of the home team. Lee would answer with two runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth and hold on for the 3-run victory.

Lasley once again provided most of the punch for the TWC offense as she delivered four hits to go along with three RBIs. Courtney Gobble got the nod at second base in game two and made the most of it, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Kelly Walker (1-3) pitched game two for the Lady Bulldogs. She gave up 11 runs on 13 hits in her five innings of work.

The two-game sweep moves the Lady Flames to 8-0 on the year. TWC falls to 2-7 on the year, with four of those defeats coming at the hands of Lee.

The Lee ladies will begin conference play on Friday as they travel to Mount Vernon, Ga., to tangle with Brewton-Parker. On Saturday the Lady Flames head down to Brunswick, Ga., to get their first look at SSAC newcomer Coastal Georgia.
