The Becky C. Smith Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off Monday at Cleveland Country Club. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Network of Strength Chattanooga, The Becky C. Smith Scholarship Fund at UTC, and the Brenda Davis Foundation of Cleveland.

Becky C. Smith was a resident of Cleveland for 54 years. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1974, receiving her CPA certificate in 1975. She was a partner in many local business ventures including Cooke's Food Store and the Panera Bread franchise of East Tennessee. She was an active member in her community, receiving the Chamber of Commerce's M.C. Headrick Free Enterprise award, as well as a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2004. Her strong will and independent spirit allowed her to continue to work daily. Her death in April of 2007 surprised many because she held her battle very close.

The memorial tournament was put together to honor her life and the many lives she has touched.

The cost for the four-person, select shot tournament is $1,000 per team. Individual may enter for $250. The entry fee includes lunch, tournament shirt, a goody bag and driving range balls. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams. There will also be hole-in-one competitions and prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive for both men and women.
