Shirley Elizabeth Gibson, 74, of Cleveland, left this world to receive her great reward on Friday morning, July 20, 2012, at her residence.

Born Dec. 24, 1937, she loved the Lord with all her heart and after many years of her being bedridden, you would always be the one to receive a blessing when you visited her.

She loved to sing and pray, which she spent many hours of her day doing. She also enjoyed watching preaching on television and always prayed for everyone. Most of the children who would visit knew her as “Granny.” She was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lebron Gibson; grandson, Alan Hampton II; and her mother, Lula Officer.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Lee and husband, Rusty; two grandchildren: Brad Hampton and girlfriend, Glenda Morrow and Brandi Hammontree; two great grandchildren: Brandon Lee and Alexis Page Hampton; sister, Brenda Longwith; nephew, Dallas Longwith; special companion, Sissy; special friends: Carol Day and Terry Howard; and many other friends who would drop in to visit, along with Hospice of Chattanooga who became her second family that she loved so much. She also left behind her pets who were special to her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Rester and Marc Bowers officiating.

Interment will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Gary Hicks, Napoleon Jackson, Terry Howard, Brad Hampton, Tom Madden and Mitchell Runions serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
