Law enforcement officials are asking for information into a Friday sexual assault case, where a woman was reportedly attacked in her home.
Capt. David Shoemaker of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division said the attack occurred around 10 p.m. Friday, at the victim’s Wilkinson Road residence.
The victim is 38 years old, according to Shoemaker.
Earlier reports from Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, noted the victim heard a noise in her home, then was attacked by the unknown suspect.
Shoemaker said the victim described her assailant as being approximately 6 feet tall or taller, with a slender build and “broad shoulders.”
The victim could not see her assailant’s face.
She did tell detectives the assailant wore dark clothing, according to information received through questioning.
Shoemaker also noted the victim resisted the attack and “managed to inflict noticeable injuries to the suspect in the form of bite marks and scratches.”
“We are vigorously pursing the assailant and will continue working around the clock, checking leads that were developed during the weekend. The suspect’s DNA was collected from the scene of the crime and has been submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for analysis,” Shoemaker said.
“We are asking for anyone who knows of a male of the same size and build who in the last few days incurred injuries of the nature described above to contact the criminal investigations tip line at 423-728-7336.”
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailant.
