- A homeowner interrupted thieves when they attempted to take his 16-foot utility trailer from his yard.
The attempted theft occurred late last week, according to a report filed by deputy Daniel Marlow.
Tracey Crumley said he was awakened by a knock on his door. When he got up to look, he noticed a small, blue Chevrolet truck parked in his driveway.
A man, who was with a woman, yelled at her and told her “No one was home.”
The man then got into the truck and backed it toward the utility trailer.
Crumley retrieved a firearm and went outside to confront the couple.
The woman was allegedly attempting to hook the trailer to the truck, according to the report. The man claimed the couple was looking for their dog.
Crumley told the couple to stay where they were and he was notifying law enforcement. At that point, Crumley said the woman jumped into the cab of the truck and the man accelerated toward him.
Crumley fired the weapon into the ground, according to the report.
Crumley was unable to get license tag information from the vehicle. Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies patrolled the area but could not locate the suspects.
Investigation is continuing.
