Cleveland Daily Banner readers now have the opportunity to crown “Best of Bradley County” favorites in five classifications and about 164 categories with the kickoff of Reader’s Choice 2013.

Deadline for submitting completed ballots is Monday, May 20, by 5 p.m. Winners will be announced in a special section scheduled in June.

It’s as simple as this. Area residents can write in the names of their favorites in these classifications: Automotive, People, Restaurants, Services and Shopping. Each class has a collection of its own categories. Voters may also cast a ballot for “Best Overall Business” in Bradley County.

In Automotive, readers may write in votes for area businesses, companies or operations that provide the best in auto body repair, automotive repair, tires, oil change, auto batteries, new car sales, used car sales, new truck sales, used truck sales, window tinting, motorcycle sales and towing/wrecker service.

In People, a few — but not all — categories include naming the best politician, community leader, volunteer, elementary school teacher, middle school and/or high school teacher, principal, dentist, dental hygienist, attorney, physician, nurse, boss, administrative assistant, Realtor, caterer, banker, teller, photographer, electrician, plumber, car salesman, optometrist, home builder, accountant, newspaper columnist and many others.

In Restaurants, who offers the finest breakfast, bakery, international cuisines, seafood, hamburgers, French fries, desserts, kids’ meals, chicken, coffee, barbecue, steaks, ice cream, salad bar, sandwiches, hot wings, hot dogs, fine dining, sports bar and yes, many more?

In Services, who’s the best funeral home, college, elementary school, middle or high school, hair salon, spa, medical clinic, hotel or motel, coin laundry, car wash, fitness center, bank, credit union, apartment complex, church or worship center, insurance agency, golf course, nursing home, law firm, computer repair, appliance repair, among a bunch of others?

And in Shopping, where can you go for the community’s best antiques, convenience store, bridal shop, men’s clothes, women’s clothes, kid’s clothes, shoes, paint, electronics, sporting goods, pharmacy, landscaping materials, hardware, bookstore, jewelry, furniture, garden center, supermarket, bicycles and yes, much more?

Similar to last year’s Reader’s Choice awards, which received overwhelming community response, the 2013 version has a few guidelines. They include:

1. Voters may cast as many ballots as they desire; however, only official ballots from the Banner will be accepted. No photocopies.

2. Ballot deadline is Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m.

3. Ballots will be available through Monday, May 20, and will be published regularly in the Banner.

4. Completed ballots may be delivered to the Cleveland Daily Banner offices in person at 1505 25th St. N.W. or they may be sent by postal mail to Cleveland Daily Banner, P.O. Box 3600, Cleveland TN 37320.

5. Voters are asked to fill out as many of the categories as possible.

6. Voters are reminded to use complete names for people, if possible.

7. Voters are reminded to designate which site, by address or location, if the business has more than one operation in the community.

8. Voters are reminded to cast a ballot for “Best Overall Business in Bradley County” which can be found at the lower bottom corner of the full-page ballot.

9. Voters are reminded to enter their names and addresses in the coupon that can be found at the ballot’s bottom right corner. Filling out the coupon will enter the voter’s name in an entry for a $150 gift card to the Bald-Headed Bistro as the Banner’s way of saying “thanks” for participating in Reader’s Choice 2013. But, don’t separate the entry form from the ballot. Keep the two together.

It’s a simple ballot.

It’s a fun opportunity to recognize Bradley County’s best.

And no, it’s not a scientific survey.

Its intent is to highlight community favorites and to grant them bragging rights; at least, until Reader’s Choice 2014!
