Opal Marie Simmons, 95, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Life Care Center of Cleveland.

She was the daughter of the late Garrett and Mary Ethel Standifer Smith.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Simmons; four sisters; one brother; one grandson, Brian Hendrix; and one great-granddaughter, Whitney Hendrix.

She was a member of North Chattanooga Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law: Barbara Snowden of Charleston and Shirley and Perry King of Cleveland; one sister, Retha Stepp of Dayton, Ohio; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012, at Center Point Cemetery in Bradley County with the Rev. Allen Burdette officiating.

No formal visitation will be held.

Les Gray, Greg Gray, James Leslie Gray, Brad Bales, Todd Gray, Bobby Hendrix and grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
