Ocoee wrestlers win TVWC tournament title

The Ocoee Middle School wrestling team finished off the season with a conference championship last weekend.

Individually the Colts had 11 medalists. Wrestlers who placed fourth in their weight classes were Xzayvier Beckingham, Seth Eachus, and Dillon Clark. Third place finishers were Justin Brown, Edward Elkins and Robert Varner. Runner-up finishers were Greg Wilson, Caleb Eachus, and Mikel Gregory. Tournament titles were won by Colton Landers and Knox Fuller.

Final Team standings were; first, Ocoee – 178.5 points; second, Cleveland – 148.5 points; Third, Lake Forest - 130 points; fourth, McCallie - 119 points; fifth, Dalton - 111 points; sixth, Baylor - 96 points; seventh, Whitwell -52 points; eighth, Tullahoma - 45.5 points; ninth, Chattanooga Christian - 39.5 points; 10th, Rhea County - 36 points; 11th, Sequatchie County - 13.5 points; 12th, Boyd Buchanan – 6 points

Outstanding wrestler for the lower weights was Ocoee Middle Colt Colton Landers. Outstanding wrestler for the upper weights was Anders Heald of McCallie.

Best Match was the 150-pound final between Greg Wilson of Ocoee and Seth Garcia of Cleveland. Garcis scored on a reversal with seconds left on the clock to secure the win.
