Ocoee Garden Club members deliver Christmas arrangements to Morningside

The Ocoee Garden Club holiday luncheon was held at the home of Margie Muths. Each member brought several small Christmas arrangements which were taken to Morningside. Ocoee Garden Club had several programs this fall.

September’s meeting was held at the Cleveland Country Club, with hostess Polly Whitsitt.

Tennessee Federated Garden Clubs District III Director Maggie Burns was the guest. She gave an overview of this year’s District III programs.

President Crystal Rymer gave an update on the Sensory Gardens at Cleveland High School.

Members brought horticulture from their gardens.

A trip to Morris Vineyards was the program for October. After learning about grape cultivation, members were able to pick muscadines and scuppernongs (a large variety of muscadine) in the vineyard.

Members brought picnic lunches and enjoyed the view of the mountains.

The November meeting was held at the home of Mary Ruth Younger with Mary Margaret as co-hostess.

David Orr from Cleveland Utilities presented a program called “Down the Drain.” He gave some good insights on our water and suggestions on how to conserve it.

Our December holiday luncheon was held at the home of Margie Muths. Her Christmas decorations are enjoyed by all. Members brought salads to share.

Each member brought several small Christmas arrangements. Rachael Savage and Mary Margaret Stamper took them to Morningside where they were distributed.

The January 2014 OGC meeting will be held at the Museum Center at Five Points. Scott Drucker of Dream Gardens will present a program on “Designing with Natives.”
