Nancy Ellen Reiser, 79, a resident of Cookeville for the past eight years and a former resident of Cleveland for many years, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at her home in Cookeville.

She was a parishioner of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, where she was a former R.C.I.A. director and former member of the Parish Council.

She was very involved in the religious education program for children. She had a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee. She was a guidance counselor and English teacher at Cleveland High School for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Reiser; parents, Michael and Elizabeth Gentile; and sister, Mary Lewis.

Survivors include her two children: Erich Reiser and wife, Donna, of Cookeville and Ellen Reiser of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren: Rutger Reiser and Hannah Reiser, both of Cookeville; three stepgrandchildren: Isaac Miller and Justin Sancho, both of Cookeville, and Josiah Miller of Detroit; and one brother, Michael Gentile of Jay, Maine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Joseph Breen presiding. A private interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A tribute has been setup on the Alzheimer’s Association website for Nancy .www.alz.org. The family kindly requests donations to this fund instead of flowers.
