Nancy Cunningham Binkley, formerly of Nashville, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at a local health care facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don R. Binkley; her parents, Winton Roscoe and Ruth Vermillion Cunningham; and her sister, Mary Sue Alley.
She is survived by her brother and his wife, William Allen Cunningham and Ann Brothers Cunningham of Gallant, Ala.; daughter and her husband, Melissa Binkley Reynolds and Dr. William G. Reynolds of Cleveland; son and his wife, David Winton Binkley and Mary Washburn Binkley of St. Augustine, Fla.; five grandchildren: John Mark Reynolds of New York City, William Andrew Reynolds of Washington, D.C., Emily Wade Reynolds of Philadelphia and Pa., Ruth Harton Binkley and Ann Marie Binkley, both of St. Augustine, Fla.
She received her education in the Bristol City Schools and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. After the death of her husband in 1980, she built a successful career as an insurance professional in Nashville before retiring to Cleveland in 1994.
She was a member of Cleveland’s Broad Street United Methodist Church. She delighted in Cleveland’s Tuesday Bridge Club and established The Blue Stocking Book Club.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Broad Street United Methodist Church.
The funeral will follow visitation at the church at 3 p.m.
Interment will be Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Lebanon Pike in Nashville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church’s “Unity Center Renovation Fund.”
