Miranda Hodges, 71, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013, at her home.

“Randi,” as she was often called, was born in Matoaka, W.Va., on Oct. 11, 1941, to the late James Oscar Slone and Louvenia Stump Slone.

Her family moved to Cleveland from Chicago in 1979 with the M&M Mars Co. Above all else, she loved her Lord and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Buster ‘Buck’ Slone, Paul B. Slone, Lawrence E. Slone, Russell Slone, and Walter ”Junior” Slone; and four sisters: Hazel Slone, Ethel Slone, Bessie Thompson and Vivian Thorne.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bennie Hodges of Cleveland; two daughters: Kim Bagley and husband, Brian, and Glenna Rogers and husband, Matt, all of Cleveland; two sons: Ben Hodges and wife, Jill, and Greg Hodges and wife, Amy, all of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren: Ellen Miranda Hodges, Zachary Paul Sawyer, Miranda Gayle Sawyer, Grayson Stanford Hodges, Abigail Rose Bagley, Connor Stanford Hodges, Maxwell Stanford Hodges, Sophia Grace Bagley, Preston Stanford Hodges, John Ryan Stanford Hodges and Ava Caroline Hodges; two sisters: Carnies East and Janice Cooke, both of West Virginia; and three brothers: Anderson Slone of Ohio, Ray Slone of Illinois and John B. Slone of Illinois.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon Saturday, June 22, 2013, at South Cleveland Church of God.

Interment will follow in a private family gathering in Sunset Memorial Gardens on North Lee Highway in Cleveland.

Her nephews, Tim Slone, David Slone, Keith Lambert, and Jimmy Slone, and her grandnephews, Jordan Slone and Brandon Slone, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are John Duggan, Kurt Schneble and Jason Short.

The family will receive friends from 10 to noon Saturday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to benefit children through either Miranda’s Fund for 4C Kids Ministry at Four Corners Church or The Royal Family Camps at the South Cleveland Church of God.
