Mike Long, 51, a resident of Cleveland passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday morning, March 21, 2013.
He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, being born here on Sept. 7, 1961, a son of the late Benny Mac Long.
He was a long-time employee of Peyton’s Southeastern with over 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Hopewell Church of God.
He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers and Atlanta Braves fan.
He was a devout Christian, who loved and cherished his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mayford and Mae Ogle and Rue and Minnie Long.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Delores Johns Long; two daughters: Hannah Long and Leeann Parris; his mother, Nancy Long; one brother, Terry Long; two grandchildren: Kailee Parris and Chase Parris, all of Cleveland; and numerous other family members, church family and countless friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for tonight, March 24, 2013, at 7 at the Hopewell Church of God located at 5765 Eureka Road N.W., with the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 7 p.m. service time at Hopewell Church of God.
A committal service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeff Thompson, Nick Calia, Caleb Johns, John Austin, Billy Jacobs and Wayne Kersey serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hopewell Church of God benevolence fund in Mike’s memory.
