She was a lifelong resident of Niota. She was born there on April 22, 1934, a daughter of the late Virgil and Kitty Barnette.
She was a member of Old Pond Hill Baptist Church. She worked for many years and retired from Athens Manufacturing. She was very gifted in sewing and created many things throughout the years for herself, her family, and many others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Trentham; one great-granddaughter, Ziona Roberts; one sister, Suvella Barnette; two brothers: James Barnette and Hobert Barnette; sister-in-law, Evelyn Barnette; and brother-in-law Alfred Solsbee.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters: Connie Isbill and husband, Kenny, of Cleveland and Sheri Scruggs of Athens; five grandchildren: Chris, Cayla and Chloe Isbill, all of Cleveland, and Octavia and Anika Scruggs, both of Athens; one sister, Della Ray Solsbee of Athens; one sister-in-law, Inez Barnette of Niota; a special nurse, Lori Younce; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Union McMinn Baptist Church, 314 County Road 316, in Niota with Pastor Kenny Isbill, Pastor Keith Whited and Pastor Myrl Vaughn officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fosters Cemetery with Edward Barnette, J.L. Barnette, Colby Barnette, Dewight Walden, Brandon Williams and Jeff King serving as pallbearers.
The committal service will conclude with a white dove release.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from noon until the 2 p.m. service time.
