Fredricka Lawson conducted the business meeting. Elsie Yates, secretary, gave the minutes of the April meeting to each member. The financials report was given by Sue Taylor, treasurer.
A gift basket was given to LuAnn Carey in appreciation for serving nine years as president of the club. Ms. Lawson made the presentation and thanked her for her work in leading the club.
She shared a letter of appreciation from Geneva and Ernest Adams for the dogwood tree planted in their yard for Arbor Day.
Plans were discussed for observing National Garden Week the first week in June. All club members will participate in the planned activities.
Announcement was made of the next flower show meeting to be held at the Museum Center at Five Points. The meeting included committee chairmen and members.
The program was presented by Annette Stanbery covering important information on Flower Show procedure. Printed handouts were given to all members explaining cuttings, conditioning and grooming of horticulture for exhibiting. Information on filling out entry cards was also given.
After the meeting, refreshments were served, followed by a tour of the yard.
