Playing the Windstone Golf Club in Ringgold, Ga., Cleveland High senior Carson Griffith, Walker Valley sophomore Dylan Lillard and Parker Gray, who was a standout on the Ocoee Middle team this past season, all captured top honors in event.
All three posted 4-over-par scores with Griffith and Lillard each shooting 76 to win the Boys 16-18 and 13-15 Masters divisions, while Gray had a 40 nine-hole total, tops among the Boys 13-under class. Lillard and Gray each had to win a playoff to claim their crowns.
Griffith edged out Colton Miller of Rockvale by a single stroke to win the oldest age division title. The Blue Raider veteran carded a 39 on the front nine and then shot 1-over after the turn to claim the victory.
After a 40 on the front, Lillard had to shoot even par on the final nine holes to match the effort of Justin Hickman of Chickamauga, Ga., who shot 39-37, and force a playoff. Cory Rollins and Tucker Jones finished third and fourth in the Boys 13-15 Masters with respective scores of 83 and 86.
Gray and Chattanooga’s Sam Marshall both fired 40s in the nine-hole competition causing the day’s top competitors to go to a playoff. Cleveland’s Nickolas McCracken came in fourth in the division with a 43.
In the girls’ competition, Rheagan Hall of Charleston posted the second-lowest tally of the day with a 42-42 — 84 to take runner-up honors in the 15-under Masters division.
Decatur’s Kaitlyn Sneed was low medalist among the girls with a 4-over 76 to win the age bracket. Walker Valley’s Katie Medley took sixth place in the same division.
Cleveland’s Allen Swetman tied for sixth place in the Boys 13-15 Tour division with a 91, while locals Torr Coulthard, Matthew Marino and Seth Neighbors finished 10th, 11th and 13th in the Boys 10-13 Tour bracket.
