Lake Forest Middle School’s Student Government Association recently raised more than $1,000 for People for Care and Learning’s Build a City campaign.

The students have been studying the Cambodian culture and decided to adopt this campaign as one of their service projects. In order to build a home in Cambodia, the students organized and participated in several events to raise money. Student Government sold Spirit Links in a grade level competition.

At Christmas, SGA organized a “Holly Jolly Christmas” project where the students could purchase Jolly Ranchers to give to their friends. The students also sold Crush drinks for Valentine’s Day so that the student body could “Send a Crush to Your Crush.”

Through this focused effort, student government reps recently met their goal and presented the donation to Fred Garmon and Abby Fletcher of People for Care and Learning.
