A dominating doubleheader in Alcoa gave the Lady Wildcats double the wins on Thursday evening.

Polk County never gave the Lady Tornadoes a chance, with a 7-3 victory in the first game followed by an even more impressive 12-3 win.

The first game started off with Alcoa outscoring Polk 2-1, with Lydia Triplett getting the lone run for the big red.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Wildcats’ bats came to life to finish off the game strong.

Sydney Sloan, who had stolen second base, was batted in by a double from Lily Cuzzort. Ashlynn Johnson’s double brought Cuzzort home, giving Polk County a one-run lead.

During the fourth inning the Lady Wildcats added three more runs to the scoreboard as Sloan batted L. Triplett in, while Cuzzort was able to get two RBIs herself.

The Lady Tornadoes were only able to answer with one run of their own in the fourth.

Felecia Johnson got the final run for Polk County off of a single by Kaitlyn Williams in the fifth inning.

Hannah Triplett pitched all five innings allowing only five hits, three runs and six strikeouts.

Coming off a successful first game, Polk County continued its routing of Alcoa with a dominating followup game.

Things got started right away for the Lady Wildcats with four runs scored in the first.

A hit to right field by Sloan brought Williams back home for the first run. A single from H. Triplett and a sacrifice by Cuzzort brought L. Triplett and Sloan around the bases to get the next two runs. Jordan Triplett finished out the inning with a single that brought H. Triplett in for the fourth run.

The second and third innings each saw three more Polk County runs, while the Lady Tornadoes were able to get two runs in the third as well.

The Lady Wildcats’ final two runs and Alcoa’s came in the fifth inning.

J. Triplett pitched the entire second game for Polk County allowing seven hits and three runs, while recording seven strikeouts.
