“Playing one of our best games of the year, we came out against a very tall team putting a lot of pressure on them in the beginning getting us off to a fast start. We played well the whole ballgame,” said coach Joe Spencer.
The Lady Colts were not so fortunate in their second outing, against White County.
OMS was forced to play catch-up from the start, falling behind 14-6 after one quarter of play. The Lady Colts added 10 points in the second quarter but still trailed 24-16 at halftime.
White County maintained an eight-point lead in the third and held a 28-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Colts fought hard but could get no closer than six points as White County held on for the 37-31 lead.
Hughes paced OMS with 19 points followed by White with 10 and Brown with two.
“Playing a solid ball club, we got off to a slow start missing layups and inside shots, which put us behind, and we never recovered. We played great defense the whole ballgame, but our total offensive game never materialized it was our poorest offensive outing of the year. But, the girls played hard and never gave up,” said Spencer.
The Lady Colts ended the season with a superlative 18-4 record.
