Lady ’Cats get win in Loudon

LOUDON — After coming away with a 7-1 defeat over Loudon at home on Tuesday, the Polk County Lady Wildcats (10-2, 4-0) made the trip north Thursday afternoon and came away with a 14-5 win over the Lady Redskins.

Polk got things started by scoring two runs in the top of the first, which were answered by a run from Loudon.

The Lady Wildcats’ bats really got going at the top of the third, where they were able to rack up seven runs.

The Lady Redskins were able to add another run to their score in the bottom of the third and, after holding back Polk in the top of the fourth, brought in another two runs to close out the inning.

The Lady Wildcats added another run in the top of the fifth and finished by scoring four more runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Loudon closed things out with one last run.

Hannah Triplett got her seventh win from the pitcher’s circle Thursday evening, striking out eight Lady Redskin batters.

Triplett also was 3-4 from the batter’s box as well.

Both Aubrie Bowan and Briana Muller each had a homerun in the District 5-AA game.

Muller finished the game 3-5 with three RBI and three runs, while Bowan went 2-5, had a double, three RBI and two runs.

Hannah Withrow and Kaitlyn Williams also hit a double in the 14-5 victory. Williams was 2-5 and had two runs.

Emily Bates was 2-5 with two RBI, Felecia Johnson went 2-3 and had two runs, and Ashlynn Johnson brought in two Lady Wildcat runners.

The Lady Wildcats remain undefeated in their district.

Polk will host Coalfield on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
