Bradley Central High School will host the 2013 Professional Baseball Instructional Tennessee Showcase Dec. 27-29. The two-day camp is put on by professional scouts and coaches, as well as selected college coaches. The cost of the event is $155 and more information or to sign up for the camp can be found at pbishowcase.com. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.


The third annual Tryout Tune-Up for baseball players ages 5-15 will be held on four Sundays in January 2014. The dates are Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 2-5 p.m. The Tune-Up will focus on all basic baseball fundamentals. Each player will get work in hitting, throwing, infield play, outfield play, base running and pitching. The Tune-Up will be directed by former Lake Forest baseball coach Robbie Winters. Local coaches and players will run stations. Each three hour Sunday session will cost $25 with a special rate of $85 for attending all four days. Cleveland State Community College will host a four week baseball camp beginning Jan. 5. Cleveland head coach Mike Policastro will direct the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. The Walker Valley Winter Baseball Hitting and Pitching Camps will be held over five Sundays in January and February. Registration will be Jan. 5 from 2-3:30 at the school’s baseball facilities. The camp dates are Jan. 12, 19, 26, plus Feb. 2 and 9. Each player will be videod and receive a T-shirt. The cost is $100 per camp or $150 for both.
