Orders should be placed immediately and no later than Monday before Labor Day, by calling 476-8123, picking up an order form at St. Therese Catholic Church or contacting a Knight.
Orders can be picked up starting Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. This year, due to demand, more than 3,500 pounds of choice pork butt will be prepared for the barbecue.
The butts are ordered from a local supplier and rubbed in a dry mixture of special ingredients that give the pork barbecue a unique and tasty flavor when roasted.
The butts are then roasted in the rotisserie roasting oven and smoked with apple wood, under the direction of K of C master roaster Chuck Nelson.
After roasting, the butts are deboned, weighed, cooled, wrapped in aluminum foil and refrigerated, until picked up. Prepaying will insure your order, otherwise, orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year the Knights will also be selling a limited amount of special K of C barbecue sauce. Roasted butt prices will remain the same as last time, $22 for a whole pork butt (4.5-5.0 lbs) and chopped pork for $30 (3.5-4.0 lbs.).
The Knights of Columbus donate 100 percent of these proceeds to charities in the local community and state who serve those in need.
A listing of the charities that the K of C donates to is listed on the Boston Butt Barbeque Order Form for your reference.
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's nonprofit fraternal organization, devoted to the four core concepts of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
