Cleveland City Schools will hold registration for kindergarten students on Thursday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Youngsters should be registered in their zone. A child must be age 5 on or before Aug. 30 to register.

For registration, parents should bring a birth certificate or record of birth from the hospital, the child’s Social Security Card, recent physical (since Jan. 1) and a proof of residency (rent receipts, utility bill, etc.)

Before entering school, the child must have an official birth certificate, a recent medical examination and all immunizations recorded on the Tennessee Permanent Immunization Record — including two MMRs, 3 Hepatitis B, 5 DPT, four polio, two Hepatitis A (effective July 2011) and two chicken pox vaccinations). If the child has had chicken pox, you will need a letter verified by his/her doctor along with the dates the child was infected.

It is important for parents to register their child for kindergarten on March 7 in order for your child to have a place in your zoned school.

It is not necessary for the child to accompany you to the kindergarten registration.

If you have questions, call the elementary school for which your area is zoned.
