John Burns has announced his candidacy for county commissioner for the 2nd District.

In his bid for office, Burns said “he looks forward to earning the support of voters by making known his desire to serve people in an efficient, attentive and professional manner.”

Burns said strong leadership will benefit District 2 for years to come.

He wants to meet face-to-face with as many residents as possible during his campaign.

Burns looks forward to applying his successful business and life experience to the decisions and challenges that face District 2 in the near future.

He was raised in Bradley County, and received an “excellent education” at George R. Stewart Elementary, Cleveland Junior High, Cleveland High School and Cleveland state Community College. He continued to receive both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business.

Burns is a long-term successful chemical sales representative.

“When elected, I plan to listen and work tirelessly for the residents of the 2nd District. I have the time, talent and energy to serve in this capacity. It will be an honor for me to serve the people,” Burns said.

He is married to Natalie Burns. He is the son of Penny Burns Lewis and the late Joe Burns Jr. and is the brother of Joe Burns.

Burns is a faithful member of Bellefounte Baptist Church.

In his downtown, he enjoys hunting and fishing.
