Jeffrey Dean Thurman, 51, a resident of Dayton, passed away at his home Friday morning, Dec. 13, 2013.
He was born in Battle Creek, Mich., on April 16, 1962, a son of the late Elbert “Jack” Thurman.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He was self-employed in the construction industry. He enjoyed building, computers, music and his grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elder and Glayds Thurman of Battle Creek and Earl and Mary Snider of Dayton; and one nephew, Gary Labron Maynor also of Dayton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Sharon Filyaw (Tom); five children: Amanda Thurman (Jason), Jeffrey Thurman II (Laura), Shawna Thurman (Tommy), Rachel Thurman and Danielle Thurman, three sisters; twin Kelli Barker (Steve), Michelle Wilson (Don) and Carol (Nikki) Burke, one brother, Elbert “Chip” Thurman (Angie); eight grandchildren: Laney, Ashton, Macayla, Loralei, Harper, Ty, Bella and Waylon; several nieces, nephews, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at White Oak Baptist Church, 1331 White Oak Road in Dayton with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating.
