James L. Risius, 55, of Charleston and formerly of Savannah, Ga., passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81, Christian Motorcycle Association and Patriot Guard. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 yearsn of service and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Risius.

Survivors include his children; Priscilla (Dustin) Smith of Florida, Brittany Bartolina of Florida and Miguel Roman of Georgia; father, Lorentz Risius of Georgia; sisters: Mary (James) Reeder and Sally (Walter) Bond, all of Georgia; grandchildren: Jordan Smith and Gage Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Lisa’s Bar in Charleston.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Savannah.
