He was the son of the late Lillie Viola Green Williams and Elie Martin Williams. He was also preceded in death by his grandfather, William Henry Green; grandmother, Mary Beth Green; his brother, Lester Williams; and brothers-in-law, Paul D. Odom and Patrick Pierce.
His family came to Cleveland from Madisonville in 1952. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Box Company as a pressman with many years of service. He loved bluegrass music and was an avid hunter. He also loved camping with his family.
He was a member of Faith Memorial Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Gibson Williams of Cleveland; his son, Chester Williams and his wife, Tammy Lynn Williams, of Cleveland; his granddaughters: Amy Marshall Hartness and her husband, Simon, and Chelsey Kate Williams; his great-grandchildren: Trevor, Ethan and Skylar Hartness; his sisters: Retha Odom and Margaret Pierce, both of McDonald; brothers: Jimmy Ray Williams and his wife, Hilda, Earl Williams and his wife, Gayle, Verlin “Mack” Williams and his wife, Joyce; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held today, July 2, 2013, at 4 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Beecher White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
