He was a well-respected, lifelong dairy farmer of the lower Spring Creek community.
He was the father of four children, the grandfather of nine grandchildren, and the great-grandfather of seven. Those who knew him knew he was a family man, a neighbor and a friend. He loved the Lord with all his soul and heart.
He was a dedicated lifelong member of the Mount Harmony Baptist Church of Riceville, where he served as Sunday School superintendent, treasurer and teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Neocia White Brady; sister, Opal Brady; brother, Clarence Brady; and daughter, Jean Brady Cardin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Josephine Trotter Brady; children: Ann and Don Wilson, Sue and John Simpson and Johnny and Cathy Brady; grandchildren: Shane Williams, Mary Elizabeth and David Young, Mitchell and Megan Simpson, Aaron Cardin, Steven and Brandy Brady, Amanda and Mike Stevens, Scott Brady, Tyler Wilson and Shelby Brady; great-grandchildren: Sara Cady, John Cady, Noah Brady, Nate Brady, Kaylee Simpson, Joseph Simpson and Kaelyn Stevens; one son-in-law, Don Cardin and wife, Shelia; and one brother and two sisters-in-law: Emerson and Nell Brady and Betty Trotter.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Mount Harmony Baptist Church of Riceville with the Rev. Garry King officiating.
The body will lie in repose for one hour at the church before the service on Monday.
Interment will follow in Lower Spring Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services of Athens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
