A triple homicide occurred in Polk County on Friday afternoon during what authorities believe was a family altercation.

Kristen Helm, public information officer with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said the incident happened on a gravel road with five houses inhabited by family members.

According to Helm, there have been ongoing issues involving a property line dispute within the family. A person was operating a tractor being used to grade a driveway when the altercation took place, according to reports.

Officers from the TBI, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and the 10th District Attorney General’s Office were on the scene Saturday.

According to Helm, at least one family member has been identified as a subject of the investigation. Three family members are dead and another was reportedly wounded. The bodies will be taken for autopsy.

Helm said full names are not being disclosed at the present time. The last name of the family is reportedly Waters. No one was charged as of presstime Saturday evening.
