J.D. and Aleene Silver
J.D. and Aleene Silver, who wed June 1, 1946, will celebrate their 68 “wonderful” years of marriage today. The Silvers moved to Cleveland in June 1959 with their son Douglas, 12, and daughter Melody, 10, to work at the new Burlington plant just being built. After spending 28 years with Burlington Industries, Mr. Silver, after its closing, worked in real estate for the next 30 years with several companies, two of which he owned. They have been members of the Church of God for 65 years — 55 years at South Cleveland Church of God, where the Rev. Chris Moody serves as pastor. The Silvers, their two children and their spouses, Pam and Jackie, five grandchildren and their spouses and 11 great-grandchildren — a total of 27 in the family — all live in Cleveland. Eight of the family are graduates of Lee University and seven from the University of Tennessees. Their daughter Melody and their grandchildren: Melissa Adams, Michelle Morgan, Athena Davis, Jamie Silver and Natalie Killian, are all teachers.
