According to a report filed by deputy Mitchell Roe, the theft occurred July 27.
Michael King told the deputy the bike was in his carport when he arrived home from work the previous night. When he got up the next morning, King noticed the black Harley-Davidson soft-tail motorcycle was missing.
King said the keys to the bike were inside the house and there was no possibility the bike could have been repossessed.
The motorcycle also had a windshield and saddle-bags as accessories. Vehicle information was obtained and entered into the National Crime Information Center computer database. The motorcycle was valued at $18,000.
n Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting Driver’s License Roadside Safety Checkpoints and seat restraint checks in Bradley County and Polk County this week.
School is back in session later this week and both THP and other area law enforcement agencies will be patrolling school zones and watching drivers to make sure they and their passengers are buckled up.
The checkpoints will be set up in random locations in the counties.
According to THP officials, checkpoints are an effective means of recognizing the dangers presented to the driving public by motorists who would violate the laws of the state.
All scheduled checkpoints are contingent upon weather conditions and manpower availability.
