The cast for this year’s showcase consists of performers from McMinn and surrounding counties. The two-act showcase will feature vocalists and instrumentalists with original compositions, a youth sign language ensemble and students from Ronnie Raper’s Music Studio. Also on the Gem stage will be lyrical dance performances from the Broadway musical “Wicked.”
Haroldean Thompson will perform the duties as mistress of ceremonies for this year’s showcase. Miss Thompson performed in the Gem Players production of “The Crazy Quilt Club.” The showcase will feature vocalists and instrumentalists who will be singing and performing original music and also today’s popular tunes. The showcase will feature Amber Murphy, Kelsey Stewart, Kelly Dennis, Aaron McLaughlin, Martin Evans and Wayne Guffey.
Students of Ronnie Raper’s Music Studio who will perform on mandolin, banjo and guitar are Lauren Nipper, Dakota Thibeault and Breanna Wilson. Raper will accompany the students.
Ruth Sowers returns to the Gem showcase with her lyrical dance performances. She will perform numbers from the musical “Wicked.” Chris Livingston returns to the Gem stage to perform musical selections from the “Broadway musical Company” and “Wicked.”
The Encounter Drama Team, a sign language ministry from North Etowah Baptist Church, will perform three selections and will end the showcase with a dramatic musical interpretation of “God Bless the USA.” Members of the troop are Aleah Allen, Khya Allen, Olivia Harris, Michala Jenkins, Leah Myers, Erica Rogers, Callie Stewart, Karsan Warner, Mason Warner, Becca Woods and Coltin Young.
