COLUMBUS, Ga. — Before the Lee baseball team enters Southern States Athletic Conference tournament play on Tuesday at 3:30 against Brewton-Parker College, the club attended the annual awards banquet on Monday evening.

Lee pitchers Andy Hillis and Jose Samayoa joined outfielder Derrick Pitts and shortstop Josh Silver on the All-SSAC first team. Silver was also named to the SSAC Gold Glove team.

The Flames placed five players on the All-SSAC second team. Pitchers Myles Smith and Clint Terry joined catcher Danny Canela, designated hitter/outfielder Corey Davis and infielder Mark Silva on the second unit.

Jeremy Bales, Cameron Brewster, Kyle Briner, David Eskew and Brandon Rader were honored as members of the SSAC All-Academic squad, while Rader was Lee's Champion of Character representative.

John Kemmer of Brewton-Parker was selected as the conference player of the year. Johnny Shuttlesworth of Faulkner University was named the pitcher of the year; Patrick McCarthy of Faulkner, the coach of the year; Scott Fabre of William Carey, the newcomer of the year; and Josh Buczek of Emmanuel, the freshman of the year.
