“It was another resilient demonstration of battling back from a goal down twice,” said Lee head coach Paul Furey. “They [Palm Beach Atlantic] are a solid team, and it was an exciting, wide open match.”
Kenny Hogg scored both of Palm Beach Atlantic’s goals to push his season total to 24. His first came in the ninth minute from an assist by Tyler Sanders.
Josh Ball scored the equalizer with his 17th goal of the season in the 17th minute. Arturo Rocha was credited with the assist.
“JB had a nice header but might be haunted by the opportunity he had to win it in OT. He did great to push it past the keeper, but shot it just wide for the would-be golden goal,” said Furey.
A little over seven minutes into the second half, Hogg collected a pass from Andy Garcia to put the Sailfish (10-3-2) back on top.
David Perez took the ball in the 77th minute, weaved through the entire defense and beat the keeper one-on-one to record the tying goal.
In the overtime periods, Lee was able to get off four shots with none on goal. The Sailfish ripped six shots in overtime with three on goal. Tom Halsall was there to deny each.
“Garrison [Adams] and Jonny [Finlay] both cleared the ball off the goal line late to help secure the point for us,” Furey added.
Up next for the Flames will be the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament on Nov. 22 and 23. Opponents and site are to be determined.
