Mount Olive Senior Associate Pastor James Sears said the shows will be staged after the Cleveland-Soddy Daisy game at Cleveland High School and after the Bradley Central-Walker Valley game at Bradley Central High School.
The annual Fourth of July show was rained out and rescheduled for sometime after the new school year began.
“We wanted to do a family-friendly event,” he said. “Each show will have 525 shells. The two shows combined will be larger than the Fourth of July show because Larry Hill wanted to give something great to the community. What better way to do that than a tailgate party after the game? It will be a great event for the family.”
The church originally thought they would reschedule the event for sometime in August but opted instead to tie the fireworks event to the important football games.
The church has been hosting July 4 fireworks displays for 19 years. Sears said this was the first year they have had to postpone the show.
