Edna Catherine Davis Simonds, 86, of the Goodsprings community, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her home.
A native of Ducktown, she lived most of her life in McMinn County. She was a longtime member of Goodsprings Baptist Church and her strength, courage, love for family, and sense of humor remained strong until the very end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Simonds; parents, the Rev. Henry and Ora Mae Botts Davis; daughter, Robin Denise Simonds; sisters: Gladys Henson, Edith Choat and Annie Davis; and brothers: Jack, Bob, Wendell, Raliegh and Buster Davis.
She is survived by children: Ron (Joyce) Simonds of Richmond, Va., Sharon Crisp of Etowah, Patricia (Ed) Culpepper of St. Matthews, S.C., Cathy Simonds Morrow of Englewood, and Phillip (Kathy) Simonds of Cleveland; grandchildren: Mark Simonds, Whitney Aho, Adam Crisp, Jonathan Crisp, Matthew Crisp, Michael Crisp, Chad Culpepper, Blake Culpepper, Hollye Morrow Proffit, and Gregory Simonds; brothers: Samuel Davis of Florida and Windom (Yonna) Davis of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today, June 16, 2013, at Serenity Funeral of Etowah with the funeral following at 5 p.m.in the chapel with the Rev. David Davis officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Goodsprings Baptist Church Cemetery.
