Eddie Tenpenny, 49, a resident of Old Fort, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the family residence.

He was a 1981 graduate of Bradley Central High School, was a well-known mechanic and was co-owner of Tenpenny Motorsports. He was involved in dirt track racing on several local tracks and he also loved fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eliminey and Etsel Blair of Cleveland and Hassie and Oscar Tenpenny of Wartbury.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Atkins; three children: Shaun, Pamela and Dillan Tenpenny, all of Old Fort; his parents, Cecil and Jerrie Tenpenny of Cleveland; brother, Ronnie Tenpenny and his wife, Pam, of Cleveland; his sister, Pam Ledford and her husband, Rodney, of Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Ray Higgins and Sonny Ledford officiating.

Interment will be in the Cohulla Baptist Church Cemetery with Rodney Ledford, Shaun Tenpenny, David Armstrong, Randall Fowler, Johnnie Eady, Grady Eady and C.L. Atkins serving as casketbearers.

The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.
