The talented teen who was featured in beauty pageants as a toddler until the age of 4 said she will be eating healthier and working out more to be in tip-top shape for the competition in October. In the meantime Keith expressed her desire to become a familiar face around the community so the people she represents in her run for Miss Tennessee USA will be thrilled to support her.
The 18-year-old gave a glimpse into her past when she explained, “When I was 4 years old, my father passed away from leukemia. A lot of the time, I’ll find myself wishing he was here to watch me grow up and succeed. A lot of my inspiration comes from wanting to make him and my mom proud.”
Not only has her pursuit of excellence made her family, friends and teachers proud, but Keith has been supportive and active in her community in ways most youths can look up to her — as a fine representative of Cleveland as she prepares for Miss Tennessee USA.
“When I was a junior in high school, I participated in Distinguished Young Women 2012,” she said. “I graduated from Cleveland High School as a Highest Distinction Honors Graduate, a Tennessee scholar, a Raider scholar, and I was a part of the Anchor Club and Beta Club. I played Varsity soccer three out of four years of my high school career. I now attend Cleveland State Community College and plan on graduating from here with a degree in business and technology. I then plan to transfer to East Tennessee State University where I plan to further my education.”
Keith says she has a plan to prepare herself for a career in the real world, but will weigh her options before deciding what business field she will ultimately choose.
“Technology is something I would do on the side,” she said. “I know a lot about computers and how technology works but I’ll mainly focus on business and most importantly general management. That’s what I plan to get my degree in once I graduate from ETSU. I plan on graduating from Cleveland State in the spring of 2014 with my associate’s in business. Then I’ll transfer to ETSU and hopefully graduate from there in four years with my degree in general management. After that, I’m really not sure. I’ll just kind of go with the flow.”
With the Miss Tennessee USA pageant set for Oct. 5 at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Keith said her goal is to be in the best shape of her life when representing Cleveland, something she said she is looking forward to.
“I intend on eating a lot healthier and working out a lot more,” she admits. “Eating healthy hasn’t really been something I focus on, but because I’ll be participating in a swimsuit portion of the pageant, I’ve definitely got to step my game up and watch how I eat. On the other hand, working out and staying in shape is something I do every other day. So changing that to a daily thing won't be a problem.”
In the meantime, the athletic teen with the Cover Girl smile said she will continue to stay active and reach out to meet people in her community as the girl next door who represents the people.
“I’ve played soccer since I was 4 and I’m really passionate about it,” Keith said. “I enjoy hanging out with friends and being involved with activities. Always staying busy is something I like. I love being outdoors and I hate not having something to do. I will always be doing something as long as I’m not just sitting down being bored. Working out and staying in shape is a good hobby of mine.”
When asked about her future, Keith kept it simple with her clear vision of how she would like to see her life unfold, saying, “In 10 years I can see myself with a wonderful husband and a great job. All I’ve ever wanted in life is to be happy. That’s all I honestly care about.
"I’m a firm believer in Jesus Christ. He has gotten me through a lot of tough situations. He’s stayed by my side the whole way and hasn't given up on me. I know he’ll take care of me. Hopefully I’ll win this pageant and make a good life for myself! I’m looking for sponsors and I’d love any and all support!”
